The selfish gene vehemently promoted by Darwin’s rottweiler, aka Richard Dawkins, receives a hearty challenge from UCLA anthropologist Walter Goldschmidt who refers to the concept as “bad science,” and simply asks, “What about Love?” Perhaps the question is not as simple as it seems. Goldschmidt asks the question from the context of an anthropological understanding of the dynamics of social interaction based upon systems of rewards, not on inducing sacrificial desires.
