Security Measures for Pope’s Visit to Turkey
The traditional “Popemobile” has been parked for the Pope’s trip to Turkey. The Vatican is understandably anxious and decided to go with an armour-plated car instead of regular transportation. Additional precautions are being taken too. These include: decoy vehicles, a bulletproof vest beneath his papal vestments, rooftop snipers, special forces, helicopters and navy speedboats. All for one man … or is it all for one belief?
The Word for Today: 11272006
Mars Hill, as depicted in Acts 17:16-33, holds very, very important messages for Christians living in America’s pluralism today. The Apostle Paul proves himself to be a fine model/teacher for the ages. The following is the Biblical description of the account: Read More »
Every System is Inclusive Re: Religious Exclusivity
Ravi Zacharias has to be one of the most important Christian theologians/apologists of our time. His work is beyond relevant for Christians living in our present pluralistic and syncretistic age. He writes, for example, in “Can Man Live Without God,” regarding the idea of “exclusivity” (a negative buzz word in contemporary camps that vehemently condemn Orthodox Christian belief and faith): Read More »
Kilroy and the Angry Swag
It shouldn’t have taken so long. The job required ten minutes of his time, tops. Yet, Kilroy was still there, barely balancing atop his rickety, make-shift ladder which was built out of a not-so-clever vertical combination of his cat’s tan-carpet-covered scratching post and a green, plastic clothes hamper. He knew better than to perilously perch himself atop stacked unstackables; but he really needed to hang his swag and lacked proper props. So, there he was, stretched beyond limits in a perpetual state of momentary flux. He was, on the one hand, stretching madly to tract and tack two handfuls of sun-stopping swag raised as far above his head as they possibly could be; on the other hand, he was fighting to stabilize the poorly designed skyscraper upon which his fickle feet were fluctuating. Now Kilroy hung, frozen, numb, and quite suspended in time. Read More »
On the Claiming of Historical Figures
History is only as important - and relevant - as the present of any given institution or organization. It should be said, then, that if your organization’s “most notable historical figures” (note the quotes) would avoid direct association and/or affiliation with you and yours, then your organization has probably gone way, way too far in some sort of so-called direction. Should this be the case, it does little to zero good to vainly associate these historical figures to your movement that no longer exists. We all know when not even a ten-foot pole will do.
God to Us: Just trust me! I can see you!
A relationship with God is a little bit like this sometimes: A two-story house had caught on fire. The family - Father, Mother and several children - were on their way out when the smallest boy became so terrified that he tore away from his mother, and ran back upstairs. Suddenly, the boy appeared at a smoke-filled window crying hysterically. His father, outside, shouted “Jump son, jump! I will catch you!” The boy shouted, “But daddy, I can’t see you!” The boy then began to cry even more! “I know!” his father called. “I know you can’t see me! I know! Just trust me! I can see you!”
Three Key Principles to a Life’s Call
The three key principles to remember as you answer the call God has for your life (as discussed in my Sunday Morning Life-Group): 1. God has never been afraid to use people who are different. 2. We often face a battle after taking a step of faith. 3. Each of us has a calling, a purpose for our lives.
Forgiveness with Responsibility: John 8:10-11
John 8:10-11: 10 And straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” 11 And she said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go your way. From now on sin no more.”
The Folkography Deep Feed Project
The Deep Feed Project has been moved from the subdomain it was accidentally birthed in to a top-level, dedicated domain. It may as well be done correctly, if it is going to be done at all! I also thought it wise to move it before more people actually sign on to participate, thus making the logistics of a proper move a tad more difficult.
A site logo is in the works and should be available soon (note: Any logo ideas and/or mock-ups are being happily received!). I’m kind of doing this on the fly because I really had no intentions of launching such a project. I am finding it increasingly difficult, however, to find solid Biblically-based content in the blogosphere. My restlessness re: this fact just got the better of me and The Folkography [Deep Feed] Project was born. I hope to help the many, many non-bloggers out there find quality Christian content much more easily. Should you discover this mission to be a passion of yours too, be sure to go to The Folkography [Deep Feed] Project and sign up to participate! Also be sure to grab the Deep Feed and plug it into your feed/news reader.
