Timeshare pets, anyone? What is it? Flexible pet ownership for busy people who want to “feel like” they own a real-live pet! Seriously! You too can rent a pet when it is most convenient for you to do so (read: ensure compatibility with your individual lifestyle and unique circumstance). Here’s a good pet rent center (they even offer shuttle services that will deliver and/or collect your pet). Consumerism has gone mad, indeed.

Hmmm. This may sound crazy, but I think there may be a *modicum* of sense in that idea. If the goal is to keep animals from being put down unnecessarily, I can see it being a good idea. Personally, we’d love to have pets–but being busy, it would be tough. If I could take care of an animal part-time, knowing that it was getting better care than being in a shelter… maybe. (Course I wouldn’t be able to stay part-time. I’d wind up adopting & changing my schedule to fit the critter!) Had a question on another post, which I’m heading to now…
No, it’s not crazy, ck, if the goal was to keep animals from being put down unnecessarily, then sure. That’s not the goal here, regardless of the spin put on it. This is simple consumerism, at its rawest. It’s walking into a convenient store and mind-numbingly starring at 300 different flavors of the same drink … but with live creatures. :)
