I like the way you did this, it is true that wrapping it into a theme would take some of the fun out of it. When it comes down to the wire, content is more important than presentation, but presentation can be icing on the cake!

I couldn't understand some parts of this article o.us poetry, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.

Hi, Martin. The whole point of my doing this was to simplify not only my weblog, but also my life. I have no desire at all to spend precious moments of my life playing with Twitter or anything else remotely similar. I think they are holes which suck away at time that would be better spent elsewhere. So, I personally do not want to be logging into a dozen different sites just to mash them all up on mine. I want to log cool things I find on the net (during the disciplined time I spend on the net), life-events, and the occasional essay-like post. That's good enough for me. What you are suggesting would take away from time dedicated to such things.

I also think if I'm going to write it, I'm going to own it, on my own database.

The formatting here is simple, as you rightfully point out, but that's the point. I am no longer strapped to one form of weblog post. I can chuck things up in an exaggerated simple fashion. This gives me more time to do the important things in life AND keep a simple and aesthetic looking log of it all.

So, that's what I'm shooting for with this direction.

My pal <a href="http://gatheringinlight.com/" rel="nofollow">Wess</a> is all agog about this so I thought I'd see what the fuss is. I've been blogging since late '97 so have experienced all the change of styles. I've been excited by Twitter and trying to move my sites to a more stream of consciousness style... I moved my popular linksblog over to its own site a few years ago and have been thinking about bringing it back, plus I love Twitter and have recently stumbled on Gabcast.

But I'm surprised by the implementation--you're just formatting regular Wordpress posts differently by category? And people are wanting to ditch Twitter, Del.icio.us, etc? That seems the wrong direction: let's bring them in. It's much easier to tweet via Twitter, bookmark via Del.iciou.us , etc., etc. Plus I get a lot of site traffic from those sites and like hosting content there. Most of us have been adding those services to little boxes on the sidebar, widget-style, but maybe the most interesting thing would be to mash them altogether, to show how they interact. And that way when next week's cool new service comes along you'll be able to splice it right in. I think you're on to something but I'm wondering if you're only going half-way.

Hmm.... Yahoo Pipes collecting, mashing, sorting then spitting out to a blog API for actual posting (so we have search, comments and a united RSS for everyone). Pipes could add the div tags, pull out junk from the feeds, etc...

Nick - I have a few wrinkles that need to be ironed out, but after that I have no problem packaging it all up and making it available for you and others.
