The Divine Liberation of the Utterly Helpless
“When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” - Romans 5:6
Have you ever been in a situation wherein you were totally and utterly helpless? Have you ever experienced a moment in your life when you knew that you could do nothing to change the outcome? Have you? Have you ever been trapped in a moment when nothing you could do, say, or think would affect, effect, or even influence the conclusion? I think we have all been there at some point in our lives. If you have not already been in such a predicament, you will be someday. I promise. Why would I heap such a rotten sounding promise upon you, my friends? Well, because it is true. Read More »

9rules’ Mass Exodus of 2007
The mass Exodus of 2007 continues over at 9rules. Chris J. Davis is the most recent member to take leave. Wow. As a former member of 9rules (Round #3 alum), I can’t help but to feel bad for the state of things over there currently. Once upon a time, not so long ago, 9rules was the place to be. Now, it’s not so clear. The new design (Ali2) is awesome, but I guess we will have to wait and see if it is enough to carry them through this current state of affairs. I want to say it can, I think it might, but the future is a bit murky.
Living Water Living Color
John 7:37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”
Our everydays are filled with beautiful and wonderful things but even the most beautiful and the most wonderful things of this world satisfy neither the thirst we have for the Divine, nor our deep desire for Sacred Community. Thirsty, and driven, we search madly for a hidden spring. When we stumble upon this hidden spring, or when God gracefully leads us to it, a much deeper understanding is born within each of us as we thankfully drink. A much bigger painting is revealed to us. Its living color points us towards a God who completely loves, embraces, satisfies, and challenges. This amazing painting hangs there, quietly, living on the face of today, and begs us to keep painting it together. This is Divinity; this is sacred community. We all thirst for these things, deeply. Our thirst is satisfied as we drink from a hidden spring.
