The Scribe Saturday Expo 12012007

The first incarnation of The Daily Scribe included a wonderful weekly feature we called “The Daily Scribe Jamboree”. Basically, it was a community-wide effort to celebrate the posts of fellow Scribes. It was unarguably viral, as far as community features were concerned. Jamboree helped with blog exposure and linkage. It was also a very good way to engage the thoughts of friends and neighbors on a much, much deeper level. After all, you actually had to read the blog posts!

In the spirit of the now defunct Jamboree, I’m dedicating my Saturday post to an expo of the posts by fellow Scribes. These folks were admitted to Scribe for a reason: they are intentional, dedicated, and articulate. You would do well to read their blogs regularly. They each have something to teach us, if we will pray, read, and listen. So, go, pray, read, and listen!

You can find a list of all rostered Scribes at the official site. Have a good time perusing the list!

Bill Lollar reflects upon an aspect of home culture that he gave up when he followed God’s leading all the way to Wales. Giving up Southern-fried Breakfast for the Kingdom is a really honest post about the little things from home that we all miss when God’s call leads us far away. Bill, not being a huge fan of cereal or porridge, has virtually given up breakfast completely in the United Kingdom. Bill! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, brother!

The Client is giving us all a peek at God’s NFL picks for this week in Pigskin Prophecy: God’s Riding the Colts. God unfortunately seems to be an Indianapolis Colts fan. It must be the relational connection God shares with unabashedly devout Christian Tony Dungy. God is picking the Colts over the Jaguars 34-17. Note: it’s all in good fun people. So relax before you even think about raising your own blood pressure levels.

Jemila Kwon reflects upon the trials of parenting in This too shall pass (or why parenting young children is like passing a kidney stone). Sometimes parenting is tough, as Jemila so beautifully articulated. The rewards produced by our hours upon hours of parental service to those whom God has entrusted us are tough to see sometimes. Sometimes parents get tired too. It is tough but it is beyond worth it. There is nothing more important on earth than fulfilling our God given call to raise and nurture our children. In fact, I think we can learn more about God in the midst of parenting than anywhere else on earth. Jemila, at the end of her post, closes with a beautiful thought: make altars out of the kid-ney stones produced by the stresses parenting can place upon each of us.

Josh Brown juxtaposes the major competing narratives sourced in contemporary interpretations of history, Jesus, the church, and salvation. If you are looking for an explanation of the differences between the “Emerging View” and the “Conventional View” then read The Consumptive Church: Different Starting Points.

Andrew Tatum is preparing for another semester of theological education. Andrew is a M.Div. student at Duke Divinity School. Here’s to great semesters filled with prayer, enlightened study, good food, and fun times! Have a good one, Andrew!

My blog friend C. Wess Daniels and his wife Emily have officially entered December! For those in the know this means that a baby is coming soon! Happy Birth-Month: Like a Baby In The Night gives us a pretty good peek into the growing expectation in the Daniels home. What an Advent season it must be for them! Congratulations you guys! Keep us posted and know you are in our prayers! Big changes are on the horizon! PS: The car seat looks great!

I also would like to give a great big welcome to a few brand new Scribes! Thom Stark’s Semper Reformanda, Andrew Tatum’s (Re)inventing the Sacred, Josh Brown’s iamjoshbrown.com, and Makeesha Fisher’s Swinging From the Vine were all added to the growing roster of quality content blogs. Welcome! You make us better by being here!

All further submissions to The Daily Scribe will be democratically voted on by all aggregated members. This means that if you are aggregated on the front page then you too are eligible to vote on all submissions. Call it quality control by a community characterized by dedication to the craft that is Christian blogging. You can submit your blog for a vote at The Daily Scribe!
