thanks Shawn. yes Will, I like to pop in on occasion too - I usually can get the blog image in my head so that when I read it in the reader I can imagine the blog...cuz the design really does say something

I completely agree with you Shawn on the traditional blog layout. I always try to think of ways to break the mold but in the end the results usually still have a similar layout. I believe it is a nice way of presenting information. It gets old though.

However, I may not be of the norm in that I prefer to read posts on the author's site rather than in my new reader. I like to read the text in a format and styling that the author intended it to be viewed in. This especially holds true to the sites of a lot of favorite designers, this site and openswitch. You never know what the site may look like on your next visit!

I'm tired of it too but any time I try to make radical changes I hate them and go back to the same style and header and everything that I've had for ages. I personally like a "magazine" site layout but haven't put in the time to load up a template and then manipulate and change it so that it's how I want it. What I have now took me long enough when I did it at that time.

I agree with you and Makeesha. 1) most people read in a reader and 2) I'm sick of the traditional blog layout. Eventually they all start looking the same.

@Makeesha: You are an awesome postmodern! I honestly thought about most people reading via feed readers before I started peeling this onion. What you say makes perfect sense.

I'm just really frustrated at the limitations that the traditional blog layout forces us all towards. Seriously, I'm tired of the header, content, sidebar, and footer blocks. Man, it's boring. I'm restless and might peel this thing again before the evening is over!

Anyone else tired of the same format? Ideas? Thoughts?

honestly, I really only read blogs in a reader most of the time so I generally don't care about design - so I say - do what makes you feel good Shawn (am I a good postmodern or what?! lol)

I like the changes Shawn. Still minimal with improved line width. Keep it up!

Yes, I'm not happy with it yet. I have to reel this thing in and get something going.
