Tribe on Hiatus
Tribe will be on blog hiatus for a bit. The writer powering Tribe needs to spend some serious time with his Father God. Don’t go anywhere; don’t unsubscribe. It’s not closing. I’m just taking some very necessary time to get my spiritual life and the ministry that should be pouring out of it … together. I’ll be back, sometime; I just can’t say when right now.
In the meanwhile, go and visit the great sites over at Scribe.
Brian McLaren’s Deep Shift in NYC
I’m officially registered for the NYC stop of Brian McLaren’s Deep Shift/Everything Must Change Tour. I’m going to be hiding in the trunk of Brian’s car! Well, actually not, but he and I and a few other vagabonds are going to make a trip out of it! I honestly can’t wait. I could use a trip and some good/spiritual fun w/ brothers.
Update: I registered, but I have since canceled my part of this trip. I won’t be making it.
The HIV AIDS Conspiracy Handbook
A handy chronology of conspiracy theories re: HIV/AIDS. The list hits the majors: government, laboratory accident(s), malnutrition, or even God’s divine will.
The Prisoners’ Dilemma
A biological and sociological game is afoot! Take on a fiendish cyberspace wizard in The Prisoners’ Dilemma!
Prisoners’ Dilemma is a game which has been and continues to be studied by people in a variety of disciplines, ranging from biology through sociology and public policy. Among its interesting characteristics are that it is a “non-zero-sum” game: the best strategy for a given player is often one that increases the payoff to one’s partner as well. It has also been shown that there is no single “best” strategy: how to maximize one’s own payoff depends on the strategy adopted by one’s partner.
The Surrogates
With “inspired” voices like these is it any wonder that all ministers are lauded these days by those outside of the church? Then there is Geraldine Ferraro, who says what she says w/o attribution to divinity. That’s a plus!
Steve Brodner draws the candidates and their powerful but troublesome ties: Geraldine Ferraro, the Rev. John Hagee, and Jeremiah Wright. Directed by Gail Levin, with animation by Asterisk and camera by Ben Shapiro.
Will You Invest in Gasoline or Hydrogen Fuel Cells
Will the next new car you buy be gasoline powered? Is it really wise to invest in a brand new gasoline powered car, given the steadily increasing pump price of gasoline and the average length of financing options? Perhaps not! There are options emerging, such as Honda’s FCX Clarity (a dedicated platform hydrogen fuel cell vehicle).
Honda has led the way in developing and improving fuel cell vehicle performance. The FCX Clarity was designed from the ground up to be a fuel cell vehicle that runs on electricity powered by hydrogen, and emits only water vapor and heat into the air. In other words, the fuel cell technology was developed by Honda for the FCX Clarity, and was not retrofitted to an existing model. Instead, our engineers cleared away all preconceived notions of automobile design, challenging themselves to discover the new possibilities that can only be realized with the fuel cell vehicle.
And no, you don’t have to plug in the FCX Clarity to recharge it. It generates it’s own electricity within the fuel cell itself. You can read more about this revolutionary vehicle via the FAQ page of the FCX’s official site.
Good Friday in the Family Room with Zeffirelli
Our family’s Good Friday evening is being spent in the family room watching Jesus of Nazareth by Franco Zeffirelli. I think Zeffirelli’s Jesus film is one of the best available. It used to be at the top of the list for me, but was bumped when Mel Gibson made the polyglot (with subtitles) Passion of the Christ.
Tribe 960: A Theme for Learning and Development
This redesign of tribe is called 960 because that’s the pixel width I decided to go with this time. Why? Well, because of an IM chat I shared with Nathan Smith back on February 24th, 2008. It went a bit like this (Note: the url to Nathan’s 960 Grid project has been removed until he is ready to reveal it himself): Read More »
