The New Centrist Evangelical Voting Block

Rev Dr Anthony Campolo, professor emeritus of Sociology at Eastern University, Pennsylvania, thinks the new centrist evangelicals could decide the upcoming election. Campolo says:

There are millions of us who espouse an evangelical theology but who reject being classified as part of the religious right.

Right on, Campolo. I do think this fresh expression of evangelicalism is here for the duration. It will be an interesting next few years in the church, to say the least. Good times!

I hate labels period. The thing that gets me is, nowhere in the Gospels is Jesus ever “political”. When did evangelicals get thrown into the mix?

Hey, Joey! Jesus is as political as it gets, especially in his 1st Century context. Back then, they didn’t kill preachers and miracle workers, unless their programs actually started moving and threatening the elitists (religious, social, AND political). Jesus was killed by Rome. That’s pretty political. Dig into the story and you will find it.
