The Coach’s Biblio Suggestions

Recent bibliographic suggestions, offered by Pletch, the BIC Atlantic Conference Church Planting Coach.

Me to We, by Alan Nelson. Explores the nature of becoming an empowering pastor and an equipping congregation. Helps us move from “going it alone” to embracing partnership. This is a quick-read, in Lencioni-style, fable-format. Sharp and helpful.

The Externally Focused Church, by Rusaw and Swanson. This one helps us move beyond the typical “come to us and be blessed” approach, to instead engage in the adventure of real, Christ-honoring service in the community. It’s packed with a blend of theoretical and hands-on ideas.

Also, not knowing what “Lencioni-style” meant, I looked it up and discovered another book I must read: Silos, Politics and Turf Wars: A Leadership Fable About Destroying the Barriers That Turn Colleagues Into Competitors (Hardcover), by Patrick M. Lencioni. This book looks like a must read, straight away.
