Biographical Info.
This website was created and is maintained by me, Shawn Anthony. I write about faith, spirituality, religion, culture and social issues. I approach these issues from a perspective that can be called progressive. Ultimately, I would consider myself a Religious Humanist, and more specifically a Christian Humanist. I really do believe that we all have so much more to learn about God, life, love, and relationships. I also believe that a misguided focus upon dogma and doctrine will detrimentally distract us all from the bigger point of our faith and spirituality, which ultimately is love for neighbor/love of God. My writing here explores issues relevant to these and other issues.
I have earned a BA in Theology and an M.Div degree from state accredited academic institutions [Middle States Commission on Higher Education]. I also studied [Koine Greek] for three years during my undergraduate studies and served as a TA (Teaching Assistant) in a Biblical Studies Department (New Testament).
Currently I'm planting a church [Inner Metro Green] in Lancaster City, PA. While I'm doing that, I'm constantly reading, learning, and dreaming of the future.
Web Tools
I'll spare you the details of how I learned how to use these tools and instead just list them.
I hand code all of my code with [EditPlus]. All of my XHTML, PHP, and CSS is written with EditPlus. I upload my code to my web host [Media Temple] via [Filezilla]. Media Temple is an incredibly reliable host and Filezilla is a wonderful open-source FTP client. I design all of the graphics that appear in the site design with [Adobe] software: [Photoshop] and [Illustrator]. Many of the images that appear in individual posts are stock images taken from places like [Flickr] and [Stock.Xchng]. All of this work is done on a [Dell XPS 630] machine.
The software I use to run this site is [Wordpress]. Wordpress is an open-source blogging and Content Management System. Wordpress is, without doubt, an incredible and powerful self-publishing tool.
What's with the Personal Brand?
My brand for this online journal has been a long time in the making. I finally found it, quite accidentally, while tooling around with the Adobe Illustrator brush. I realize that this is not how the marketing gurus tell us how to do it, but it's how I did it. Sometimes things just have to happen on their own good time.
My personal brand for this site and my online work is simple. It's just a simple fellow with an oversized halo on his head. Halos typically are pictured as hovering magically over an equally magical head, but this fellow's halo doesn't fit quite right. It is too big. So it wears down around the fellow's brow, but he's pretty cool with it anyway.

I call this simple and comfortable fellow "Halo." He is my personal brand/logo. You can find him on all of my online work, somewhere.
