Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die by Heath
I am really digging the book my new friend gave to me. It’s called Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die, by Chip Heath and Dan Heath.

Views on Homosexuality by LT Johnson and Tushnet
Luke Timothy Johnson and Eve Tushnet’s views re: homosexuality are articulated so powerfully in a June 15th Commonweal article titled Homosexuality & the Church: Two Views (Volume CXXXIV, Number 12).

Listening to Theology by Sinead O’Connor
Will Conservative American Christian retail outlets stock their shelves with Sinead O’Connor’s Theology? Probably, not.

A Not So Random Life and Ministry Update 07172007
Rest is a good thing. I finished preaching two services this past Sunday at Manor Church, then took a break on Monday. It was a needed one. I was wiped out. I’m recharged and ready to get back to work! God is so good.

Save Online Radio and Tune Into the TUN3R Feeling
There is no shortage of live Internet radio broadcasting sites and/or online radio tuners. They are practically a dime a dozen.

The Final Live-Redesign of Lo-Fi Tribe is Now Complete
What probably will be the final re-design of Tribe is now complete. I needed a distraction for a few hours and as usual I found the joy that is rearranging Tribe to be more than distracting enough for me and my busy mind.

Fun with Mint 07202007
Mint is an addictive little additive to web sites. Most stats programs that record visitor/referral information are loads of fun.

Books Already Shelved and My Fuddruckers Money
So, I wrote a scathing review of a book titled Bible-Carrying Christians by David Watt.

A Readers Update on Regular Posting

Blogging has been slow, obviously. The majority of my time has been dedicated to family responsibilities and a growing ministry. Tribe is not going anywhere, but regular posting will not be resuming until late fall, at the very least. I do have a few reviews I have to publish and those will be coming very soon. My apologies to the web marketers and publishers who sent things for review. They will all be reviewed as promised. The church plant is growing though, and we have much work to do in our city. Time is scarce; God is good.

Considering Anthony Burgess’s A Clockwork Orange
Anthony Burgess’s A Clockwork Orange is so much more than an entertaining novel …

What is an Emergent Unitarian Universalist Church!?!
Uh, yeah. Thanks, but no thanks!

Subversive Blogger Awards?

Look ya’ll, getting an award for being “subversive” is about as non-subversive as you can get. Seriously! I hate to be a wet blanket, and I do love ya’ll, and I’m honestly not a mean fellow, but this is just parody at this point, don’t you think? An award for being subversive? An award for being a “subversive blogger?” You are blogging! Seriously? Are you serious? How subversive can one be in their pajamas? This does the entire concept a bit of injustice, me thinks. C’mon, now! Think about it!

Note: Please forgive the many grammatical fragments in the above … I’m just unable to address this with complete thoughts. Carry on!

The 2008 EO/Wheatstone Academy Symposium Call for Posts

Does the medium used effect the message being delivered? If so, how exactly is the message effected? Is it effected in positive or negative ways? Perhaps both? If so, does the positive effects outweigh the negative, or vice versa? Is the message actually shaped or altered by the medium? Can it be shaped by the delivery medium? If so, how? Is the medium implemented deeply considered? These are great questions to be asking, especially as one considers the emerging new medium and technology of our own day. Read More »

Tribe 960: A Theme for Learning and Development

This redesign of tribe is called 960 because that’s the pixel width I decided to go with this time. Why? Well, because of an IM chat I shared with Nathan Smith back on February 24th, 2008. It went a bit like this (Note: the url to Nathan’s 960 Grid project has been removed until he is ready to reveal it himself): Read More »

TDS Equals Slow Tribe

Blogging around here has been slow as of late. The reason: I have been devoting what free time I have to the project aka The Daily Scribe. The first wave of writers have been added to the aggregate; the site design is 95% complete. Be sure to head on over to TDS and check it out. You’ll find a variety of Christian expression there. See You in ‘08!

I’m taking a break for a week or so! See you all in the new year! PS: The new, new design is nearly finished. Note: Big kudos to Will for helping out with the feature post/front page display!

A New Design for Tribe

It is obvious, I think. I am trying out a new design on Tribe.

I wanted to trim the site bloat, as much as possible. So, this design has almost zero graphic images either in the design itself, or in the individual posts. I am trying to go with an extremely lite site. I’m also suddenly interested in typography, scalability, accessibility, fluidity, and graceful degradation. It’s all about the content and reader accessibility. I want to put my content in the browsers of as many people as possible. Now, this site works perfectly all the way back to IE 5.5, and I’m only using one css stylesheet with a total of 83 lines. Hooray!

Christian Carnival CCII

I’m hosting the 202nd edition of the renown Christian Carnival. The Christian Carnival is a weekly recap of the thoughts and musings of Christian blog writers. It’s a great way to discover new blogs that you have never before read. It’s also a great way to catch up on current thoughts, trends, and news. Topics ranging from cinema, politics, Biblical Study and/or Christian parenting are usually covered in these Carnivals. It’s good reading. The diversity of theological thought is surprising too. Be sure to check out the following links! You may just find a brand new blog to add your feed reader! Peace. Read More »
