Prioritizing, Leading, Following, and Blogging

Inner Metro Green

Ministry happenings and responsibilities are once again chipping away at my blog time! That’s OK. The more real-time ministry I engage, the more I’d rather be doing that! Blogging is great and all, but it pales in comparison to seeing real change in real time and getting involved with it. A blog, at least for me, should simply be an extension of real-time ministry, at least for the Christian. A blog should be a simple record of what’s going on in the real life of a believer; a blog should never BE or BECOME your life. That’s putting the proverbial cart before the horse, IMHO. A blog also should be, IMO, a way to share resources and ideas implemented and tested in real-time. If it becomes anymore or anything other than that, I think priorities were twisted somewhere along the line. I’d stop and check myself. So, though my blogging is slowing a bit, my ministry is ramping up. That’s a good thing. Read More »

Relocating with a 40GB Apple TV in Tow

A quick personal update: My family has been busy moving into a new place for the past four days, thus the blog silence. We are almost finished, thank God! In other personal news, I won a 40GB Apple TV loaded with all of the films created by the awesome folk over at Modern Parables. I’m an even bigger fan of Modern Parables than I was yesterday! And yesterday I was a big fan! This rocks, obviously.

The 2008 EO/Wheatstone Academy Symposium Call for Posts

Does the medium used effect the message being delivered? If so, how exactly is the message effected? Is it effected in positive or negative ways? Perhaps both? If so, does the positive effects outweigh the negative, or vice versa? Is the message actually shaped or altered by the medium? Can it be shaped by the delivery medium? If so, how? Is the medium implemented deeply considered? These are great questions to be asking, especially as one considers the emerging new medium and technology of our own day. Read More »

Tribe on Hiatus

Tribe will be on blog hiatus for a bit. The writer powering Tribe needs to spend some serious time with his Father God. Don’t go anywhere; don’t unsubscribe. It’s not closing. I’m just taking some very necessary time to get my spiritual life and the ministry that should be pouring out of it … together. I’ll be back, sometime; I just can’t say when right now.

In the meanwhile, go and visit the great sites over at Scribe.

WordPress 2.5-RC1

Tribe is now being powered by WordPress 2.5-RC1. So far, it’s great. Faster load times, for sure. The new admin/backend is a huge improvement over yesterday’s admin, with a few caveats: 1. I hate the placement of the category list in write post mode. Scrolling down to find the category list sucks! 2. I can’t find the place to adjust my post slug during the write post process. I think it’s gone! That sucks too! 3. I still have to use a plugin (Advanced Tag Entry) to select and enter tags from a list, rather then guessing and hoping I get the right one as I write each post. That sucks the most!

I also find it annoying that the “Visit Site” link located at the top of the dashboard opens my site in a new window. Why?

Other than all of that, it’s really pretty.

Tumble-hybrid Deuce WordPress Theme

I pulled out the dusty old file folder for the Tumble-hybrid Theme for WordPress 2.3.3+ and I made a few changes and cleaned things up a bit. The result is Tumble-hybrid Deuce. There a few changes. Most notably I changed a few category names to better fit the media designated. So, rather than categorizing “photos” as “slices,” as was done in my first Tumble-hybrid theme, the category is simply called “photos.” Likewise, the “thoughts” category is now “thoughts” rather than “lifestream.” These changes make things much more intuitive, I think. There are also more than a few aesthetic changes. I really had no intention of releasing the first version of Tumble-hybrid, as it was a personal project born in the boredom of one late night. So, the first time around, I just packaged it up, just as it was, as I used it myself, and made it available for download. Deuce is cleaned up and much more suited for public consumption. Read More »
