A Deep Thank You to the IMG Team
I am, as a pastor/church planter, so proud of the men and women involved with and leading our church plant in Lancaster City. We are forming a healthy, open, and dialog centered culture from which all of us are striving towards an authentic expression of kingdom values and living. Our team is wrestling with a very serious topic and they have proven themselves to be people dedicated first and foremost to the values of Jesus’ kingdom. You all are tops in my book. Tops! Thank you!
A Slow Blog Rising
Blogging is slow. We’ve been very, very busy completing the shared remodeling project for Inner Metro Green and The Infantree. Our gathering place is looking great! It’s a lot of work, but we are almost finished! Pictures of our space will follow soon! You can see it live for yourself this Sunday morn at 10:30 AM!
Our Emerging IMG Leadership Team
Joining the Holy Spirit in an Apostolic Journey
I’ve taken a few days to pray, pursue, and ponder. Especially on my mind was/is Inner Metro Green, our church plant in Lancaster City. I have been interacting with many, many un-churched people in the city for nearly 3.5 months now. My conclusion? Revival. Read More »

In Utero: The Dawning Vision of Inner Metro Green
I believe church can be done differently in Lancaster City and the vicinity. I believe we can train strong leaders to plant & lead strong house churches and strong community groups wherein seriously edifying transformation and discipleship can take place. If this is all done faithfully we can then trim down the usually bloated production budget of church as we all know it. Think about it! I’m sure 95% of what happens in church could be - and should be - happening in the community instead. Yet, we drop huge, huge amounts of money and we vainly try to squeeze it all into a segregated, four-walled box and try to convince outsiders that it is community and not consumerism. It doesn’t work! Honestly, it just doesn’t work anymore. Is the final product really worth all of that money? Really? Is it really community? Or is it really just a second community existing far apart from the first community? I think it is the former, honestly. Read More »

Ready, Aim, Fire!
It appears as if my family and I are going to be spending more time in Lancaster City after my graduation from seminary! I graduate from seminary on May 12th, but all grades for graduating students must be turned in by the last week of April. The last week in April is in three weeks! So, I’ll be done in a few short weeks, Lord willing. Graduation is the first piece of my calendar puzzle. Read More »
Emerging Gathering in Lancaster City
Not too long ago I announced plans to form an Emerging/Missional gathering in Lancaster City. Initially, I discovered the street interest in this project to be pretty high. In fact, interest was so high, I immediately put a foot to the brake pedal. I basically brought the whole thing to a slow & quiet halt. I had to shift down a few gears until I could get a better picture of what my denomination’s (Brethren in Christ) plans were/are for me after my fast approaching May graduation from seminary (M.Div). I did not want to get started with something that ends up somewhere outside of my denomination’s best intentions and plans for me and the larger Gospel ministry to which I am completely, completely dedicated. So, I basically parked it for a bit. Read More »
Praxis: Coffee and Conversation in Lancaster City
I have been gearing up to start a gathering and/or study group in Lancaster City for about two months now. “Two months!” you say. Yes, “two months!” I have been praying about the vision I have and for the project itself for most of that time. Yes, prayer is the most important aspect of such ventures. I do believe I’m ready to hit the streets, quite literally. The gathering/study group will definitely include a couple of dedicated Christians (two have already jumped aboard!) but will be largely dedicated to dialogue with people who do not consider themselves to be “Christians.” I have tagged the group with the moniker “PRAXIS” (Praxis is a term that means: 1. ACTION, PRACTICE: as a: exercise or practice of an art, science, or skill b: customary practice or conduct; 2. practical application of a theory). We will be meeting at Prince Street Cafe - a coffee house near the heart of the city - on Saturday nights to drink coffee, of course, and to discuss theology, philosophy, Christianity, and life.
