Fun with Mint 07302007

I’ve said it before, but I’ll happily say it again: I am thoroughly entertained by my site’s referral logs. Referral logs, for those who don’t know, offer website operators a little glimpse into the mind of the website reader. The log above is a record of search terms that led readers to this site. I enjoy the unexpected terms that show up in these logs … most of the time. Some are quite frightening; others are just funny. Read More »

Mint is an addictive little additive to web sites. Most stats programs that record visitor/referral information are loads of fun. Combing through referral links and search engine keywords can - and often does - lead to hours upon hours of silly entertainment. Sometimes it is also a bit frightening too! Some of those keywords and search terms are just downright embarrassing and seriously taboo. It is hard to believe anyone would even think up some of those wacky combinations, much less actually and willingly type them into Google. Read More »

Paying Attention to Resources is Good

Ben Gray just published a post re: his blog’s (Open Switch) use of Media Temple server resources. Ben is an awesome guy, as many, many people are aware. There is good reason for his standing in this community: he regularly helps us all do better! Ben outlined the troubles re: his site’s GPU issues at Media Temple and helped the community in the process, again! He helped me, to be sure. Thanks to Ben’s post and subsequent comments, I discovered that I too have a resource hog squatting on my server space at Media Temple. It’s name: MINT! Granted, I put it there, but I had no idea. Check out the resource graphic (Note: Media Temple customers can access this graphic and other important resource info by going to Urchin Analytics, “Pages & Files”, then go to “Page Query Terms” and then look at the top scripts in the list): Read More »

The real thing is always better than thin imitation. This fact alone will prove to be the undoing of a declining liberal theology. Well, that and the fact that liberal theology is hopelessly confused, as any honest and minimally bright liberal theologian will attest.

The Lo-Fi Mint Version 2.0 Upgrade

I was going to wait & upgrade to Mint Version 2.0 later this week, but I actually just found $19.12 growing mold in my PayPal account. So, I thought I may as well spend the money if it is going to do nothing but lay there all commie-lazy and zero-interest-like (it turns out the $19.12 has actually been laying in there since early October!). So, to make an unnecessarily long story much shorter, I’ll just say this: Lo-Fi is Minty fresh, and sporting the new 2.0 Version style. I’m loving it too! Mint Version 2.0 is well worth the ridiculously reasonable upgrade price. So, get it and become addicted to stats gawking. Too, you will toss a bit of well deserved support toward a great independent developer, Shaun Inman. Read More »
