I So Graduated Yesterday. Cheers LTS Class of 2007!
This part of my journey is complete. Tomorrow a new beginning is born. I am so excited for tomorrow! The M.Div is now a crinkled up wad of paper buried deep in my right pocket. If anyone wants to see it, I suppose I can dig it out. Meanwhile, I’ll be planting a church in Lancaster City and vicinity in partnership with the Brethren in Christ. Peace! Read More »

Bhakti Maarga (path) or Bhakti Yoga in Hinduism
Bhakti Maarga or Bhakti Yoga is a spiritual path of Sanatana Dharma wherein an intense devotion is offered to a personal god. Bhakti (share) is a thoroughly relational approach to one’s god. It is emotionally experiential, and built upon an active shared relationship with one’s deity. Bhakti is the most popular Sanatana Dharma path in India. Bhakti can be summarized by two words: Overwhelming love! This love is directed toward one’s personal god. It is lived out through discipleship to the god who is a personal friend. Read More »

Transitions: Finishing and Starting Strong
Note to my readers: I’m taking the next few days to finish up a few final seminary requirements and to start making a serious family transition from seminary/campus living to city living and church planting. There is a bunch of stuff happening right now, on a number of levels, and God is bringing it all together. God is faithful. These days are good, exciting, and chock full of potential. I’ll be participating in a hybrid church planting internship with my conference (Atlantic Conference of the Brethren in Christ), in Lancaster, while simultaneously working to put the early stages of Inner Metro Green on the ground, in a tangible way in the city. Keep praying! Read More »
Practicing Charismatics in Life, Living, and Study
I stopped by my home office between classes to grab a little bite to eat and quick check my e-mail. Much more exciting than the Banana Nut Muffin I was snaking on was the e-mail message from Richard Tatum informing me of my top 20 position on the PneumaBlogs list! I ranked 4th. Awesome. Thanks, Rich! Read More »
Still Looking for a Biblically Sound Blog Network?
It’s nice to see burgeoning blog networks & projects like 14six and Folkography (Folkography is a RSS FEED project I founded and then handed off to Rick Beckman). I happily became a charter member of 14six last evening. 14six is a burgeoning young community which describes itself as follows: Read More »

The Church, led by the Holy Spirit, developed an authoritative Book of faith and practice (the Canon of the New Testament). 2. The Church developed an authoritative statement of faith or fundamental truths and creeds. 3. A prominent bishop which would defer to the bishop of Rome became a rallying point as a way of fostering unity. Read More »
Host Jump: From TextDrive to Media Temple
It is official! Lo-Fi Tribe is now evolving in the reliable environs provided by Media Temple. I left my old host due to serious reliability issues. The last week has been nothing short of frustrating as I wrestled in vain with “the dreaded white screen of death” (blank pages, no errors, just white), MYSQL errors, connectivity problems, slow load times (I’m talking molasses people), and the server wanted me to download almost every .php file, rather then opening them itself. In other words, my site was borked. It is all good at Media Temple, Lo-Fi’s new and permanent home. I now have 100 GBs of premium storage, 1 TB of short-path bandwidth, Host up to 100 individual sites and 1000 e-mail accounts. What else will I ever need? Read More »

Notes re: basic Bible interpretation: What are figures of speech? Figures of speech often involve comparison. Comparisons are often constructed around conceptual ideas re: nature (e.g. rain, water, fire, soil, flowers, trees, animals), human objects (pottery, tombs, clothing), and human experiences (birth, death, war, music). There are other conceptual ideas upon which comparisons are constructed, but these will do for the time being. Read More »
